DISCLAIMER: These notes are from the defunct k8 project which precedes SquirrelJME. The notes for SquirrelJME start on 2016/02/26! The k8 project was effectively a Java SE 8 operating system and as such all of the notes are in the context of that scope. That project is no longer my goal as SquirrelJME is the spiritual successor to it.

I am doing the initial allocation in the wrong order, I should do it by argument rather than by native.

12:36

I realized that the KBF format has a vulnerability in that the data and executable sections are together. This would also be a problem for the kernel binary KBF (which contains many KBFs in a KBF). There in essence must be a code specified block part of the KBF that way if there is exploitable code that is generated, a user cannot execute an arbitrary string they explicitely stated. Mega-KBFs would also need stuff such as string merging and such too since many KBFs could share similar strings.

13:40

I need a better representation of the KBF structure types instead of them being a gigantic set of enumerations with annotations attached. Perhaps a custom format or JSON would be better. JSON would not require writing a parser so I will go for that instead. I also no longer require the C code but assembly compatible stuff, so to speak.

13:45

I am not going to do a complete rewrite of the KBF code since it is rather good, just going to change how it is generated and allow for String and code tables. I might be able to extend it to any constant however and have constant tables, but not too sure on that yet.

14:10

I suppose having a collection of constants would be good since in the super binary when the kernel KBFs are merged together, that means less space usage as far as some constants are concerned. Also that would mean less entries in the table of contents which may result in faster KBF loading and such, maybe. Right now the kernel loader takes about 900ms to load despite being quite an empty class. Initial decompilation from SSA takes awhile too.

Kung Pao Chicken is rather delicious.

14:53

I can also remove the "DELETE" and in the Mutable stuff have indexes by references so things are easier kept in sync as needed.

16:23

I will need my JSON Parsing errors to be a bit more verbose so it is easier to tell where things occur.

16:28

Actually my JsonLocation which is given by the exception works.

Was doing real life things for a bit.
