DISCLAIMER: These notes are from the defunct k8 project which precedes SquirrelJME. The notes for SquirrelJME start on 2016/02/26! The k8 project was effectively a Java SE 8 operating system and as such all of the notes are in the context of that scope. That project is no longer my goal as SquirrelJME is the spiritual successor to it.

Had this idea for the C compiler, execution profiles. People write some nasty non-portable code which is bad. With this I could say simulate the stuff similar to PowerPC or x86, big endian, little endian, size of the pointer, etc. Not a true fix, as it does not fix broken programmers, but it would ease portability much.

ArgumentParsing does not work for how I plan my package manager to work, so I will modify it to make it a bit more iterable, then switch parse to perform the same behavior.

05:22

Rather than twist it one way, I will twist it another way and break compatibility with existing code using it since very little uses it now.

05:48

Actually I just realized how odd it would be having an iterator return the next of itself, so need a slight redesign and simplification. I have to use Iterable on that one.

06:00

Actually, I should eat before I do all this work so I can concentrate on it more.

20:23

New ArgumentParser now will be able to handle the split character when searching for arguments.

Slight problem with the ServiceLoader, it does not exist in Java 5 so I cannot use it for plugins at least on GCJ/GIJ. So I will need a wrapper class to handle Java 5, Java 6's ServiceLoader, and I could also make it able to handle my own service loading library.

21:21

I was also writing the plugin lookup outside the PMAPI, but that will change because I dislike duplicate code everywhere.

For a filesystem I am going to go tag based, then I can add image properties and other file metadata. I have tons of files and actually using the tags to locate things would be far better. Tags for resolution, colors in an image, whether faces are on them or not. Same can be said for other file types like programs, classes, etc. I can do advanced searches for say images that have a width of at most 128.
