DISCLAIMER: These notes are from the defunct k8 project which precedes SquirrelJME. The notes for SquirrelJME start on 2016/02/26! The k8 project was effectively a Java SE 8 operating system and as such all of the notes are in the context of that scope. That project is no longer my goal as SquirrelJME is the spiritual successor to it.

I am awake. Hmm, this is an idea for code blocks. Instead of having code in the method be full of architecture stuff I can have individual code blocks that match the correct architecture so that there is only a single code entry. It may be easier to manipulate KBFs that way. However it may complicate meta- data such as debug lines, exceptions, etc. Might be best to keep the Code stuff how it is.

15:21

The best thing to do would perhaps be to make multiple table of contents in a KBF but with shared constant data. At least this way merging KBFs is simpler sort of. There would not be any hacks needed for the kernel for there to be multiple KBFs sharing the same stuff.

15:40

Can also simplify all of the KBF classes too, so instead of having twenty or so classes they are combined into one since some functionality is very similar.

16:15

Would be best to have it not be a map, the KBF file that is. It is not purely a Map and cannot really be used as a general one.

17:08

Going to avoid collections until later on that way the stuff is easier to implement as is. Hopefully the stuff ends up being faster in the long run. I shall see though, I can build a before all these changes and compare it to new times in the future. If load and generation times are cut in half that will be great, if they are even faster it will be really nice. This KBF code will be at the core of the OS binary recompiler stuff, so it must be fast. Also for stuff like mutable entry types, I am going to just directly modify the input buffer rather than have an expensive call to generic entry code.

18:15

The idea of the KBF constant pool is to remove the idea of having individual entries for strings and some integer/float values. The code generator for Mutable and such will handle adding/removing from the constant pool as needed when a value changes and such.

18:36

KBF will also be shorter than KBFFile.
