DISCLAIMER: These notes are from the defunct k8 project which precedes SquirrelJME. The notes for SquirrelJME start on 2016/02/26! The k8 project was effectively a Java SE 8 operating system and as such all of the notes are in the context of that scope. That project is no longer my goal as SquirrelJME is the spiritual successor to it.

Day roll over, it is now dark and since the light was on bugs get rather attracted to the room. So I set my screen brightness really low and increased the font size to make things easier to read since it is a bit blurry. I get blinded switching to a screen that is white, so a dark text editor helps at night although the sidebar is rather bright. Will most likely cause tons of eye strain just trying to read the text I type.

Side note: will need to do my own URL handling extra stuff along with the standard URL management, same goes for localization since the standard library sucks at this.

Not sure if I should handle annotations in annotations, though I might not ever actually use them. If they ever are used then the parser could be updated anyway.

Had this idea for a BSOD or Panic, show the moon from Seseme Street for the NES whenever it happens just going no. Would be rather nostalgic. Perhaps when I get far enough my BSODs could be references to 8-bit games from the NES that I played alot as a kid.

This code although a bit complex is going rather nicely for token parsing, serves the purpose so far.

I was going to do some complex structure with manual labor to throw data in for the placing of actual argument data. However, instead I am going to make a tree that could be navigated and entries placed at. That would at least save me time, then I can make a toArray which turns the tree into a giant array.

I should write the tree structure up first before using it so I do not run into any TODOs. Actually, I do not really need this crippled tree setup as I am overcomplicating the issue. So far the new setup is much better and much simpler. It appears Java 5 does not support multiple annotation values being called like a method and instead requires equal sign to be used. So I must modify the parser to handle said cases. The equal sign complicates things slightly for array and currently multiple key=value pairs.

And now that equal signs are handled everywhere, I just need to change array inner key values to be numbers instead for verbosity. I also must fix stuff such as foo={"hello", "world"}. It becomes [value=[0=hello, [1=world]], value=foo] which must be fixed. At least my sanity checks are not firing so far after the end of an array. With a whole assortment of debug printfs, I now have it working as expected.

Now that it is done, I realize that my dependency scheme is rather poor in that I use URLs instead of URIs. They are not really URLs, so I will switch to opaque URIs since it is better suited. I actually did the URLs wrong to begin with because they lacked a third / so it was quite literally referencing the "k8" host with the rest being paths.

On a side note, GCJ is dumb in an instanceof: "warning: ArrayList is a raw type. References to generic type ArrayList[E] should be parameterized", however doing such a thing is illegal because it creates "Cannot perform instanceof check against parameterized type ArrayList[HairballParser.Pair]. Use the form ArrayList[?] instead since further generic type information will be erased at runtime". So that is fun. For my parser, I can do something that could also parse class file import statements (since they are always on the top) to then determine if I have all the dependencies of the specified class. At least all my current code works as expected in OpenJDK.

Will need to start writing dependency walkers, but since that will be duplicated in hairball and sort of roughbld, I will make some nice interfaces.
