DISCLAIMER: These notes are from the defunct k8 project which precedes SquirrelJME. The notes for SquirrelJME start on 2016/02/26! The k8 project was effectively a Java SE 8 operating system and as such all of the notes are in the context of that scope. That project is no longer my goal as SquirrelJME is the spiritual successor to it.

And the day changes, modifying all of the dependencies to use strings is much better as the pair stuff is not needed at all since the values are all URIs anyway. The only real part left of the dependency walking that is left is handling of soft dependencies. Slight snag is that soft dependencies of a package are not possible and will only work with packages.

Actually my current setup is very weak because the system would conflict when building independent of the run-time code against dependent on the run-time code. When compiling the kernel target it must use internal only dependencies rather than the current one being run. So I will need to change MetaSearch to be an abstract class instead then have this contain core info on packages and classes. So this will be a slight moving around of things. Luckily BaseInfo does not depend on any parser. The new MetaSearch will have to instead only use parsers internally to grab info when applicable while keeping its own cache map of them. This way the two systems can intermix so that utilities that are meant to be run on the host can be compiled with usage of the host class path while stuff remotely is bootstrapped instead. Had this idea of where I can use different plugin systems to a very generic MetaSearch so I can specify files or check the current run-time. Basically a plugin will locate a package or a class in some manner, usually on the disk. However for soft dependencies the order has to be different. So a searcher will need to be setup to handle hard and soft searching. Then those plugins would be responsible for loading whatever into PackageInfo or ClassInfo.

Before I take on this task, I should hopefully get the remainder of the night and most of the morning in rest. Then I should be very wide awake to perform all of this. Maybe. However I should heed my own advice because I am already starting to feel tired.

I stayed up playing video games until about 06:00 so now I have just woke up.

Going through all of this code again to make it as I planned earlier today is turning out well for the code. Much more simpler and more abstract. So by the time I get to the actual build system, I might not need to write much at all pertaining to this. Must purge BaseInfo of Depend and make it more general.

19:26

I do not feel very well, I am going to attempt resting.

20:56

I feel much better now.

21:39

After working on this, my code is much leaner and simpler now, I would estimate that maybe around half of the lines were shaved away. I removed my DontCareClose and instead used one that returns any caught exceptions since ignoring them completely is just bad practice anyway. So now I am back to where I was yesterday so to speak.

With URI base for info grabbing with dependencies, it should be much easier to implement recursive dependency generation especially with the much thinner classes that exist now.
