Been thinking about a situation where I would be in the middle of nowhere with an unknown position. If I had a radio broadcaster I could still pinpoint my location. If I have a clock or if I can measure time, I can either give the time when the sun rises and when it sets or the duration of daytime. The duration of daytime is less accurate. The rise and set time, when in a time zone such as UTC, will permit the longitude calculation of my position. This assumes I know the date however. The length of day can be used to calculate the latitude position.
